Sleep, in My Eyes

There is a point in life when you have to come out of the waiting room and get to it. This is about that.

Lyrics

I could wait forever, for a lifetime. Day after day, wait just to live.
Well, I thought I was on the brink. It would all happen soon and you'd be there in the end.
But I guess I was dreaming. I slept a long, long time.
I laid there so still, I could hardly move.
And it's hard to see the truth for all the lies.
I got sleep in my eyes.

And I finally figured out, saying you love me sounds good.
But it doesn't make it so.
I lost my place with you the moment I knew
The you you didn't want me to know.

Well, I know that I can't dream the same dream over.
I'm awake. Sun in the sky.
And I think I'll get it right, eventually.
Now, there's sleep in my eyes.

Well, I could stay forever like you want me to.
Wait patiently by the phone.
And wake up once again in a year or two
Still very much alone.

But I finally figured out, saying you love me sounds good.
But it doesn't make it so.
I lost my place with you the moment I knew
The you you didn't want me to know.

Well, I know that I can't dream the same dream over.
I'm awake. Sun in the sky.
So I think I'll get it right, eventually.
Now there's sleep in my eyes.
